60 Countries witnessed AMTZ, Seed of Global Hub of Medical Devices

Vishakhapatnam: It could be the beginning of the end of dependence of India on imports of medical devices. Import lobby must have watched this gathering of 60 countries to witness AMTZ (Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone), the biggest cluster of medical device manufacturing in the world, with consternation. Its architect, indomitable Dr Jitendra Sharma, is determined to close the shop of multinational companies manufacturing medical devices for India. AMTZ is the seed of India becoming global hub of medical devices. The representatives of these countries saw with awe the huge capacity of India to manufacture world class medical devices.

Med Tech Zone in Vizag became a centre of Global attention as world leaders, innovators, experts and scientists came together to participate in the World Health Innovation Forum at Kalam Convention Centre.

The forum opened with a plenary session led by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO of AMTZ, Dr. Tom Judd, Director of the Global Clinical Engineering Alliance (GCEA), Ms Millicent Alloh, Rice 360 and Dr. Rob Abbott, CEO of ISPOR. The forum brought global collaboration, innovation-driven strategies, and actionable solutions to address global health challenges.

Inauguration of a state-of-the-art global Med Tech expo showcasing cutting-edge medical technologies and digital health solutions was done by dignitaries. Over 200 exhibitors, including leading innovators and startups, presented advancements designed to improve healthcare accessibility and equity worldwide.

The forum offered a unique platform for stakeholders to connect, fostering collaborations between academia, industry, and policy leaders. Representatives from organizations such as World Health Organisation, World Trade Centre, ICMR and PATH engaged in the forum to shape the future of healthcare delivery. Hundreds of private sector organisations came together to mark the World Health Innovation Forum. Over 200 exhibitors from several countries showcased their technology and medical innovations, besides innovators from across the country. Agreements of investments, certifications, joint ventures were initiated.
