Tripura Police Seizes Eskuf Worth Rs 3.5 Cr; Detains 2

Churaibari : Police personnel of Churaibari police station in cooperation with Assam police force seized a huge cache of narcotic cough syrup worth Rs 3.5 crores market value. Also, two persons were detained by police in connection with the smuggling of drugs.

Reportedly, Sunday early morning police force of Churaibari police station led by Police in-charge Pranab Mili detained a 12-wheeler vehicle numbered UP 80 DT 0499 on its way towards entering Tripura through Assam-Agartala border in Churaibari.

Search of the vehicle revealed 38, 200 bottles of narcotic Eskuf cough syrup in 215 cartoons. Police also arrested the lorry driver and the co-driver.

Police officials said, “The detained have been identified as Chandrasekhar Tiwari and Ramsagar Tiwari residents of Uttar Pradesh who were transporting the narcotic items from another state to Tripura”.

A specific case has been registered under NDPS Act and the detained will be produced before the court for further legal action, said police.
