Factory Manufacturing Duplicate Betnovate-N Cream Busted By Crime Branch Delhi

New Delhi:  A team of NDR/Crime Branch has busted a fake drug factory in Gulabi Bagh Industrial Area where illegal activities of manufacturing duplicate Betnovate-N cream, a product of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Company, are being carried out.

One accused named Avan Monga R/o Vishnu Garden, Delhi, Age-45 Years was arrested. 57 cartons of empty tubes containing 68400 tubes, 04 cartons of filled tubes containg 2200 tubes of betnovate-N cream and raw material and machines were recovered. In this regard a case FIR No. 288/2023, Dated-15.12.2023 u/s 420 IPC & Section 63/65, PS Crime was registered.

Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS; Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, Delhi said that “From the last few months, reliable inputs were received that many duplicate cosmetics and medicinal products are being manufactured by some entities. This type of illegal activity is not only the offence of falsification and infringement within the meaning of the Copyright Act but it is a cheating to innocent people who purchase those products in the market relying the same as genuine.

Therefore, a team of the NDR Crime Branch was assigned the task to gather information against such entities in the interest of the general public. Information was gathered through manual as well technical sources and it was revealed that some entities situated in Gulabi Bagh area indulged in the illegal activity of manufacturing/stocking/ supplying/trading duplicate products of GSK Company. 

 
Information was further verified through reliable sources. Authorized Enforcement officer of the company was contacted who also confirmed the same information with him.

As per the directions of senior officers, a team led by Insp. Vivek Malik comprising of SI Samrat Khatiyan, SI Tanish Kumar, SI Anil Kumar, SI Udaiveer, HC Sudhir, HC Satpal, HC Sushil, HC Om Prakash and HC Deepak under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal was constituted by DCP Amit Goel to bust the racket.

The team acted swiftly and conducted a joint raid along with an Enforcement officer of the company at Plot No. 99, Gulabi Bagh Industrial Area, Delhi. During search, 57 cartons containing  68400 empty tubes of Betnovate-N cream were recovered from the factory, wherein each carton was found containing 1200 tubes. 04 cartons containing filled tubes of Betnovate-N cream were also recovered from the factory, wherein each carton was found containing 550 tubes. Other raw material and heavy Industrial machines which were being used for manufacturing were also seized. 

 
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 288/2023, Dated-15.12.2023 u/s 420 IPC & Section 63/65, PS Crime has been registered and further investigation has been taken up. During the course of investigation, the exhibits were seized and taken into the police possession.

During interrogation, the owner of the factory named Avan Singh Monga disclosed that he was running this factory for the last one year to gain a big margin. He further disclosed that he used to get printed outer cover and tube of Betnovate-N from a printing press situated in outer Delhi and thereafter used it to fill/reseal the product in his factory.

He has spread this business in the area of Outer Delhi. To unearth the whole chain, efforts are being made.”
