DCA Seizes Overpriced, Misleading Claim Medicine

Hyderabad: Officials from the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) in separate raids in Sangareddy and Suryapet districts seized overpriced drugs and also medicines with misleading advertisements.

During a special drive, DCA raided a unit in Annaram village of Sangareddy district and seized overpriced antifungal medicine Itraconazole capsules.

“The MRP indicated is very high compared to the ceiling price fixed for the product by the Central government,” DG (DCA) V.B. Kamalasan Reddy stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Antifungal drug Itraconazole was found to be sold at an excess of Rs 193, which is a violation of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, the DG said.

In a separate raid, the DCA authorities seized an allopathic medicine Pilesmoon cream from a unit in the Suryapet district. “The manufacturers were making misleading claims to treat piles,” he said.
