FDCA busts two Surat factories, fake cosmetic products worth Rs 24 L seized

The Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) Monday busted a factory manufacturing cosmetic products without license in Surat and seized fake cosmetics worth Rs 24.30 lakh. Nine samples of the products were sent for lab verification.

According to FDCA Commissioner Dr HG Koshia, officers from Surat, Bharuch and Valsad raided a cosmetic factory run by Smit Enterprises in Mota Varachha. The unit used the name, address and license number of another company without permission.

The owner of Smit Enterprises, Himmat Vithalbhai Wadalia, was nabbed and products worth Rs 4.30 lakh were seized and four samples were sent to the lab in Vadodara.

Apart from this, a large quantity of cosmetic products with different brand labels were found by the team on Monday at CK Corporation, Punagam, Surat.

The accused used the name, address and license number of Presheel Laboratory, Vadodara to manufacture cosmetics without their knowledge and manufactured under their name and sold cosmetics on online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart

The owner Nikul Rukhi was nabbed and products worth Rs 20 lakh were seized and five samples were sent for testing.
