Hat Trick of PhDs in Health: Three Cheers for the Rare Researcher

The Prodigy got appointed Pro- VC of a Health Science University when He was just 33 Three Years ago.

Nagpur/ Wardha: Three PhDs in health!!! Such rare accomplishment is the stuff a genius is made of. It comes only to those who never sleep on their laurels. Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Professor in the Department of Radio Diagnosis at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha, pulled off a hat trick of PhDs in health, a domain where his ilk is nearly non- existent. His third PhD relates to his seminal research on Interventional Radiology.

He was conferred this award at the 17th Convocation of Adani Institute of Higher Education and Research, formerly known as Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), Wardha, held on 17th October 2026. The cherry on the cake is that he received this third doctoral award at the hands of his equally illustrious father Dr Vedprakash Mishra- Like father, like son, so to say.

The memorable occasion was graced by distinguished academic dignitaries, including Dr. Lalitbhushan Waghmare, Hon. Vice Chancellor; Dr. Sweta Kale Pisulkar, Registrar; and Dr. Tripti Waghmare, Executive Director (Academics), along with other eminent guests and academicians. Prior to this, he has already been conferred with Ph.D. in Radiodiagnosis in 2018 and a Ph.D. in Health Professions Education in 2022.

Dr Gaurav’s academic embellishments are very many. Apart from the three Ph.D’s he has after his postgraduation with MD Radiodiagnosis degree, he also cleared M.Phil. Examination in Health Professions Education, Fellowship in Curriculum Design, Assessment, Programme Evaluation and Bioethics numbering four to his credit. In diligent recognition of his academic and research contribution he has been conferred with Honorary International Fellowship of International Institute of Organisational Psychological Medicine (FIIOPM) of USA, UK, Australia and India along with the present Chairman of National Medical Commission Dr. Abhijat Sheth at the Convocation held in New Delhi.

As a keen researcher he has to his credit more than 350 publications in Peer Reviewed/ Indexed Scientific Journals and has 14 authored books to his credit. He also holds the rare distinction of being appointed as the Pro Vice Chancellor of a Health Sciences University barely at an age of 33 years.

What made the occasion particularly special and deeply emotional was that Dr. Gaurav Mishra received his third doctoral degree at the hands of his father, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Dr. B. C. Roy National Awardee, Secretary General, International Council of Global Network for Medical, Health Professions & Bioethics Education, President, Association of Medical Educators of India (AMEI), and Chief Advisor, Lata Mangeshkar University, Nagpur.

Every achievement of a child is a moment of immense happiness and pride for   parents. It is a moment in which professional accomplishment and personal pride converge, creating a memory that remains etched in the heart for a lifetime.

The conferment of Dr. Gaurav Mishra’s third Ph.D. is THEREFORE not merely an academic accomplishment; it is also a celebration of parental pride, family values and the enduring pursuit of knowledge. Dr. Gaurav Mishra is the son of Dr. Neelam Mishra, Hon. Vice Chancellor Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth Karad.
