Odisha Racket Busted for cheating several aspirants on pretext of admission to MBBS

The Cubbon Park Police arrested two members of a sophisticated gang that involved in cheating and several aspirants’ parents seeking their children admission in Bengaluru’s reputable colleges.

They built the trust as they ran an educational trust in Cuttack, Odisha, and cheated gullible parents. The Police have arrested Subhashita Pati and Samarjeet Panda and are hunting for four others named Ilyas, Soumyakanta Mohanty, Anil Mukherjee and Manoj Das. All the members are from Odisha.

The Police took action after receiving the complaints from several students that were being cheated. Total six cases were registered at the Cubbon Park police station and three at the High Grounds police station. Afterm an investigation, it has proved that a single gang was involved in all the cases.

Gang is well experienced and worked like a well-oiled machine. The name of their educational centre is “Operating under Sunrise Education Trust”, and then the gang collected the list of students who took the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Then their strategy is to contact these students from different phone numbers and with different names. They offered them to help to get seats in the reputed colleges like MS Ramaiah Medical College, MVJ Medical College and Research, Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, BR Ambedkar Medical College, BGS Global Institute of Medical Science and BMS Medical College.

Then after collecting money from their parents, they sent them fake confirmation messages that they have got the seats. To achieve this, the gang had prepared fake seats of the colleges and issued fake certificates. Thereafter, the suspects would switch off their phones.

Police also sealed Rs 8 lakhs from their bank account and seized two laptops and mobile phones. Any other student if found cheated, need to approach the Cubbon Park police station.

Two more arrests has been made by the Cubbon police in similar case named Indresh Dubey and Gaurav, for cheating engineering aspirants and seized Rs 10 lakh and a demand draft for Rs 1,55 lakh from them.

Dr Satya Prakash, from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was cheated from the men allegedly by promising to enrol his son at the BMS College of Engineering.
