The statewide raids were made by the Punjab state’s Food and Drug Administration and the results are very disappointed as many of the chemists were selling habit-forming drugs without any prescription illegally.

FDA team found Chemists were confiscated a large number of abused drugs and collected samples of the medicines for quality check. FDA officials also seized 10 lakhs worth of Alprazolam and Propranolol drug worth Rs 3.9 lakh from chemist Maruti Pharma in Muktsar.

The chemist was failed to show any bill for these stored stock. Cardilax-Alprazolam and propranolol tablets worth Rs 1 lakh were seized from another chemist Rinku Pharma.

Raid results again proved that there is a need to take strong action among them as drug consumption is increasing day by day in the state.

These kind of activities are becoming the reasons for the slow killing of a youth and that will be putting their future to the dark. Many small courier companies are also involved in transferring these habit-forming drugs such as buprenorphine and pain reliever tramadol.
