Assam: Major Action By Police On Assam-Tripura Border, 40,000 Bottles Banned Cough Syrup Worth Rs 2 Crore Seized

Assam: Police in Assam’s Karimganj district on the Assam-Tripura border on Wednesday seized 40,000 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs 2.18 crore from a truck bearing registration No. AS-11BC-6863. The police also seized the truck and arrested two people.

Karimganj district Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Das said that, based on a tip-off, a police team stopped a truck at Churaibari police monitoring post on the Assam-Tripura border. We had set up a naka check at the Churaibari police monitoring post and stopped a truck.

During the search, we recovered and seized 240 cartons of cough syrup containing 40,000 bottles. The market value of the seized cough syrup bottles is estimated to be around Rs 2.18 crore. We have caught two people. He also said that the truck was coming from Guwahati.
