New Delhi: AstraZeneca’s India-arm has partnered with National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Raebareli, to build clinical research capabilities at 25 emerging geographies in a bid to extend pharmaceutical research beyond metros.
Under the collaboration, the two partners will adopt 25 clinical trial sites, assessing their capabilities, providing targeted training in documentation and support processes related to ethics, safety and trial feasibility.
AstraZeneca India will contribute clinical development expertise to design and deliver the programme, and support the participating sites through training, workshops, governance and site-readiness.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals will provide strategic direction and endorsement as part of its target to set up 1,000 global-standard clinical trial sites in India under the Biopharma SHAKTI policy.
“Clinical research is central to bringing innovative medicines to patients. Our collaboration with NIPER Raebareli, with Government support, aims to strengthen India’s clinical research capabilities, expand trial participation and build a sustainable, high-quality research ecosystem.” said Praveen Rao Akkinepally, Country President and MD, AstraZeneca Pharma India.
“This collaboration brings together government, academia and industry to strengthen clinical research capabilities in a structured manner and directly advances key objectives of Biopharma SHAKTI,” Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals added.
