BSF Seized 1075 Bottles Of Phensedyl, Estimated Worth Of ₹ 2,20,709/-

Nadia & Malda : On May 14, 2023, jawans of Border Post Banpur, 54 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier, intercepted a smuggler near the border fencing, who was attempting to smuggle a consignment of Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh. Despite the smuggler’s attempts to escape, the jawans were able to apprehend him on the spot and seized 144 bottles of Phensedyl that he was about to throw over the fence. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Sariful Mandal from Nadia district.

During interrogation, Sariful Mandal revealedthat he had taken the Phensedyl bottles from Niranjan Mandal, a resident of Matiyari village. His plan was to throw the bottles over the fence and get paid Rs 1600 for the job.

Furthermore, on the same day, jawans of Border Outposts Tungi, 54 Battalion, Lodhia, 70 Battalion, and Sowapur, 115 Battalion, seized 931 bottles of Phensedyl from their areas of responsibility along the Indo-Bangladesh border. In total, the BSF seized 1075 bottles of Phensedyl, which have an estimated value of ₹ 2,20,709/-.

The apprehended smuggler and the seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

The BSF spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction over the achievement of the BSF jawans, stating that the Border Security Force remains vigilant in preventing smuggling on the border. The spokesperson also mentioned the presence of an efficient team to gather information related to smuggling and keep a close watch on criminal activities in the border area.
