DCA Officials Continue Raids On Quacks, Illegal Medical Shop, Overpriced Medicines And Misleading Advts

HYDERABAD: Officials of Telangana Drugs Control Administration raided a medical shop located at Nizampet, Bachupally Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, which was operating illegally without a drug license.

 

In separate events, DCA officials conducted raids on clinics operated by quacks and seized illegally stocked drugs intended for sale at two separate locations, including: 1) Nagaram, Keesara Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District 2) Gachibowli, Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District.

 

In another incident, the officials seized certain Ayurvedic medicines due to misleading advertisements: 1)  Ashwagandha Churnam, claimed to treat ‘Diabetes’. 2) Shape Up Breast Cream, claimed to aid in ‘breast enhancement and firming. 3)  AyurDia Diabetic Capsules, claimed to treat ‘Diabetes’. They also seized overpriced antifungal medicine ‘ALOZOLE-100 Capsules’ (Itraconazole Capsules 100 mg) at Patancheru, Sangareddy District – The MRP indicated is very high compared to the Ceiling Price fixed for the product by the Central Government.

 

In an official release here on Sunday, DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, the officials raided a shop Gram Panchayath Office, Nizampet, Bachupally Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri. This shop is associated with Bhavani Family Clinic. Koduru Uma is running a medical shop at the said premises illegally without a drug licence.

 

Raids conducted at quacks’ clinics in two separate locations: The details are as follows: On March 30th, 2024, based on credible information, officials from the Drugs Control Administration raided the premises of quacks who were claiming as ‘Rural Medical Practitioners’ and practicing medicine without proper qualifications at their clinics. During the raids at the following premises, substantial quantities of medicines stocked for sale without a drug license were found.
