Drug Injections Sold At Illegal Medical Stores, Two Sealed, Drugs Recovered

Kanpur: On Monday, the Drugs Department raided the Kamadgiri Medical Store in Maswanpur and recovered more than 300 drug injections being sold illegally. The cost of which is more than 10 thousand rupees. In this action taken in the evening, the department has sealed the medical store with immediate effect. Along with this, another medical store has been sealed. The sample of the drug injection has been sent to the Lucknow Government Laboratory for testing. Only drug injections were being sold at this medical store. It did not even have a license. If the sample fails the test, a case will be filed against the operator and he will be sent to jail.

During the first public hearing after the assembly by-election, a complainant came to the District Magistrate and said that a large quantity of drug injections had been sold openly at a medical store in the Maswanpur area for a long time. Due to which the youth and other people in the vicinity are getting addicted to drugs. On this complaint, the District Magistrate called the Drugs inspector and instructed him to immediately go to the mentioned place and raid it. When the team reached there, some people who had come to get the drug injection ran away from the spot. During this raid, the medical store operator was not found there but an employee working there, Deepak Singh, was found on the spot. On questioning, it was found that the medical store did not even have a license.

Drug inspector Ompal Singh said that the medical store has been sealed along with sending the injection samples for testing. Apart from this, action was also taken against another Om medical store. No narcotic drug was being sold here, but the operator could not show the bill and he did not have any pharmacist either. Both the medical stores have been sealed. The drug inspector said that the recovered injection is used for pain, but people also use it as a drug. Therefore, these medicines are not sold without medical advice. These injections are used for severe pain like cancer.

Drug inspector Ompal Singh said that the injections recovered from the medical store being used as a drug are usually used to get rid of severe pain caused by serious diseases like cancer. This injection called Buprenorphine directly affects the brain. To avoid any side effects in the body from its use, drug addicts also use another injection called Pheniramine maleate. It usually works to remove allergies. To get intoxicated, both these injections are taken together through a syringe.

At Kamadgiri Medical Store of Maswanpur, where the FSDA raided, the entire store has been closed from the front with a net. A little space has been left in the middle, in which as soon as one puts hand inside with money in fist, a person sitting inside hands over a packet of drug injection. This trend was going on here for a long time.

The drug department has been strictly instructed to run such a campaign in the entire district to stop the sale of such illegal medicines and take action against those doing so. – Rakesh Kumar Singh, District Magistrate.

Last month, a large quantity of drugs was recovered from five medical stores in Chamanganj. In which raids were conducted on Nizami Medical Store, Noor Medical Store, MSSR Medical Store, Shine Medical Store, Faiz Medical Store. Here samples of four types of suspicious medicines were taken for testing. The rest of the medicines were seized. The total cost of which was estimated to be around Rs 145210.
