Mumbai: On Tuesday, the FDA said it had sealed a cosmetic manufacturing factory in Bhiwandi for allegedly misleading consumers on e-commerce platforms by labelling its products as sulfate-free and paraben-free. The stock seized from the unit included the finished products, as well as machinery and raw materials.
The regulator further alleged that CCigmaa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd–which sold hair care products, shampoos, hair serums, baby lotions, baby powder, sunscreens, hair oils, face washes, dandruff control shampoos, and perfumes for men and children–had printed a fake Andheri address on finished goods.
Furthermore, no quality tests had been conducted.FDA officials added that the company possessed no manufacturing license, and the products lacked batch numbers or any legally required information. They have filed a complaint with the Narpoli police station under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the BNS.
