Fire breaks out at pharmaceutical company in Andhra Pradesh, no casualty

A fire broke out at a pharmaceutical company in Andhra Pradesh’s Parawada, early Tuesday (January 21) morning. The flames, which erupted in the effluent treatment plant around 6.30 am, were extinguished within 20 minutes, officials said.

The fire was reported at MetroChem API Pvt Ltd in Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Anakapalli district.

According to Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, fire tenders were immediately deployed, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

“The fire broke out in the effluent treatment plant by 6.30 am. Immediately fire tenders rushed to the spot. Within 20 minutes the fire was extinguished,” Sinha said.

Authorities, including the factories inspector and officials from the revenue and police departments, are set to visit the site to investigate the cause of the fire.

This incident comes close on the heels of another fire earlier this month at the Tirumala Laddu counter, which sparked panic among devotees collecting the sacred prasadam.

The fire occurred at Counter No. 47 and was reportedly caused by a short circuit in the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system connected to the computer setup. Prompt action by staff members brought the blaze under control before it could cause significant damage.
