Jaipur : Chief Secretary Usha Sharma said that the concerned departments should work with coordination and with a focused approach for the prevention of drug abuse in the state. She said that the departments should appoint nodal officers on drug prevention, treatment, counseling and other related activities and a roadmap should be prepared to make ‘Drug-Free Rajasthan’.
Sharma was addressing a meeting of the state-level committee of the Narco Coordination Center constituted by the Central Government. She said that drug addiction is a serious problem in the state and effective action would be taken for the prevention of drug abuse among the youth. The chief secretary said that the health department and department of information and public relations should create publicity on the ill effects of drugs through short videos, sign boards, and other activities.
She said that youth should be administered a pledge not to take drugs in the programs organized in schools under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and in the rural Olympic program on 12th August. “Cooperation of the community should be taken for the prevention of drug addiction,” she said. ACS Home Abhay Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting.
