To check illegal activities in India’s pharma sector, India’s central drug regulator CDSCO (The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) has formed intelligence cell of nine-member. This new cell aims to track illegal activity in the country’s pharmaceutical sector.
According to the officials, the cell has the authority to gather data on the import and export of medicines and cosmetics against the law and investigating complaints related to medicine quality received from overseas regulatory agencies.
This cell will keep tracking and check all the activities carried out in contravention to the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, stated the order and cell will be in charge of collecting and collating information based on that.
The cell also has permissions to assist in raids in collaboration with zonal and sub-zonal offices.
