The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is an autonomous institution that was established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, GoI, to commemorate the birth centennial year of Jawaharlal Nehru. Prof. C. N. R. Rao, FRS, was the founding President.
The Centre was registered as a society with Dr. Raja Ramanna (eminent physicist and former Chairman, DAE) as its first Chairman.
The Centre was recognized as an Institution Deemed to be University by University Grants Commission, GoI in 2002. Prof. Giridhar U. Kulkarni is the current President of the Centre, and its Governing Council is chaired by Prof. V Ramgopal Rao.
The Council of Management oversees all major activities of the Centre including granting of degrees, the appointment of new faculty, and the initiation of new programs.

R&D Assistant
Remuneration: Rs. 19,000/- (Without NET/GATE etc.), Rs.25,000/- (With NET/GATE, etc.), and Rs. 28,000/- (M.E/M. Tech, etc.) plus 24% HRA.
Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course
Research Associate (Provisional)
Remuneration : Rs.39,000/-plus 24% HRA
Essential Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course. Must have submitted thesis, for the award of Ph.D. degree.
Research Associate
Remuneration : Rs.47,000/-, Rs.49,000/-and Rs.54,000/-plus 24% HRA. Remuneration will be fixed based on experience.
Essential Qualification: Ph.D., MD, MS, MDS or equivalent degree OR 35 three years of research, teaching, design, and development after years MVSc, M.Pharm, M.E, M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Index (SCI) Journal.
Desirable Qualification: Ph.D. with experience in tissue culture and host-pathogen interaction studies. Molecular Biology and cell biology experience
