The narcotic drugs whose sale has been banned by the government are being sold secretly in various districts of Purvanchal including the city. The syndicate of drug smugglers is so dominant that the banned drugs are being transported to West Bengal and then to Bangladesh by road. The drug dealers of the city and some influential people are also involved in this game. Especially cough syrup, painkillers and other narcotic drugs are being sent directly to Bengal from the depots to the firms of about 150 stockists of Saptasagar Dawa Mandi. The narcotics team has laid a trap to arrest such gangs.
