Kidney scam: ACB gets more documents from JJ Hospital

MUMBAI: Anti-corruption bureau officials on Friday gathered medical records from JJ Hospital pertaining to the previous organ transplants done during the tenure of social services superintendent Tushar Savarkar.

The key accused in the kidney bribery scam had processed 550 organ transplant proposals since he was posted at JJ’s transplant programme in 2017.

Sources told TOI that cases where permissions were sought from S L Raheja Hospital in Mahim will be particularly scrutinised. The state panel will look into permissions granted to Raheja. Meanwhile, the family of Jamaluddin Khan said they have got an NOC from the directorate of medical education & research to go ahead with the transplant. They are collecting money for the same.
