New Delhi: The launch of Radionuclide therapy makes HCMCT Manipal hospital Dwarka at par with best in radiation therapy. Brushing aside proton therapy as overrated, oncology experts of the hospital claimed that with new addition they are second to none in radiation therapy. Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi launched this facility.
Answering a question, radiation experts said proton therapy is not a magic. Radionuclide therapy compares with best yet in radiation therapy. Radionuclide therapy uses radioactive substances called radiopharmaceuticals to treat cancer. These are introduced in the body to annihilate tumors. It can be taken as capsules as well. It makes a detour inside body to find and effectively confront tumors.
With an aim to provide comprehensive cancer care, HCMCT Manipal Hospital Delhi is the first in Dwarka to launch a new Radionuclide therapy facility. Radionuclide therapy utilizes radioactive medicines for treatment of various cancers and benign conditions. This facilityis asignificant addition to the existing oncological services, making it a holistic oncology facility.
