Moonshot, SS Innovations displayed Battle Readiness for Monumental Goals in Robotic Surgery

Bharat Mandapam witnessed Spectacle of Crazy Innovations by Maker of Ssi Mantra, Best in class Surgical Robot

New Delhi: It was a veritable display of innovative potential and prowess of Indian engineers to be far ahead of the curve in Bharat Mandapam. 3rd edition of global robotic medtech conference SMRSC 2026 starting April 9 under the aegis of SS Innovations, maker of best in class and only ‘Made in India’ surgical robot Ssi Mantra proved a huge draw on robotic experts from home and abroad. The event, a testament to quintessential Indian potential to ace and race in every field, launched new era of surgical robotics loud and clear. Moonshot, SS Innovations manifested enough its battle readiness for monumental twin goal of making robotic surgery affordable and accessible. Project Vimana for wounded soldiers in forward combat zones harnessing drones is stuff of an epic.

‘Get up and go’ guy Dr Sudhir Srivastava, globally renowned top notch cardiac robotic surgeon and Chairman, SS Innovations, oozed with confidence when he said  with panache – Innovation is our DNA. Presence of ‘Moon Man’ Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai , former Director, ISRO Satellite Centre  and Hollywood  fame Indian actress Neetu Chandra  Srivastava on the occasion served  as the perfect symbols of SSInnovations’s skyrocketing ambition for breakthroughs. Project Vimana entailing harnessing of drones in achieving these goals speaks a volume about SS Innovations’ determination to script a robotic surgery saga for the whole world to watch in awe the India medtech genius. The best of SSInnovations is yet to come and it will come after many such milestones. Neetu Chandra has taken up the role of being ambassador of SS Innovations.

SS Innovations International, the maker of India’s first and only home-grown surgical robotic system, SSI Mantra, is hosting the 3 day Third Global SSI Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. On the first day, the conference witnessed participation from over 1,500 doctors and 250+ leading experts from across the world, reinforcing its position as a premier platform for advancing robotic-assisted surgery and next-generation healthcare technologies. The conference was inaugurated by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Indian government.

Building on the momentum of previous editions, SMRSC 2026 brought together global surgeons, healthcare leaders, researchers and innovators to explore the transformative potential of robotic surgery, artificial intelligence, telesurgery and mobile surgical platforms. The conference featured live telesurgeries, scientific sessions, immersive technology showcases and hands-on experiences, offering a comprehensive view of the rapidly evolving surgical landscape. Over the course of the three-day conference, a total of 15 live telesurgeries and 14 live surgeries will be performed using the Mantra-3 and MantrAsana systems, offering attendees a first-hand view of advanced robotic surgical capabilities in action.

A defining highlight of SMRSC 2026 was the unveiling of two groundbreaking innovations that signal the next frontier in surgical mobility and accessibility. Taking centre stage, Project Vimana emerged as a game-changing advancement in battlefield and emergency medicine. Designed to deliver expert robotic surgical care directly to wounded soldiers in forward combat zones, the system is deployed via a heavy lift autonomous drone and lands near the casualty site. Equipped with dual 7-degree-of-freedom miniature robotic arms and advanced surgical instruments, Project Vimana enables trauma surgeons to perform life-saving procedures remotely through the SSI Mantra Surgeon Command Center. From haemorrhage control and chest decompression to shrapnel removal and wound repair, the system bridges the critical gap between injury and evacuation, bringing surgical precision to environments where immediate medical access is otherwise impossible.

Complementing this vision, Project Operion showcased the future of surgical infrastructure through a fully mobile, platform agnostic operating room ecosystem. Built on a wheeled chassis with Overhead-Integrated Robotics and a Zero-Footprint Architecture, Operion eliminates conventional spatial constraints by suspending all surgical components from an integrated overhead system. Equally transformative was the unveiling of SSI KAYA Humanoid Applications, which showcased SS Innovations International’s bold foray into humanoid robotic platforms for real-world deployment across critical domains.

Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman and CEO, SS Innovations International, a globally renowned cardiac surgeon and pioneer in robotic telesurgery, said, “SMRSC 2026 underlines our commitment to advancing surgical innovation from India to the global stage, while marking a significant milestone in our mission to make world-class surgical care more accessible to all.”

Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai Former Director, ISRO Satellite Centre, said “SSI’s continued focus on innovation strongly reflecting a commitment to building technology that is both impactful and inclusive .”. Prataprao Jadhav said, “India is fast emerging as a global hub for advanced medical technologies, and innovations showcased at SMRSC 2026 highlight the strength of our indigenous capabilities, with companies like SS Innovations International leading the way. “

Satguru Sri Madhusudan Sai also spoke on the occasion profusely praising SS Innovations journey northward.
