Over 1,200 Bottles Of Cough Syrup Seized By Excise Dept In Joda, 2 Arrested

Keonjhar: Excise Department officials during a raid on Wednesday seized over 1,200 bottles of banned cough syrup from a house in the Dimu hutting area under Joda police limits in Keonjhar district.

The Department has arrested two persons including the prime accused in this connection.

According to reports, acting on intel inputs mobile squad of the Excise Department in Keonjhar district along with staff of Excise police stations of Joda, Champua, Jhumpura, Barbil and Keonjhar Sadar conducted a joint raid at the house of one Kuni Swain of Dimu hutting area under Joda police limits leading to the seizure of 1,230 codeine phosphate based banned cough syrup.

Excise Department has arrested Kuni Swain and prime accused Mohammed Ishpak in this connection and forwarded them to court. The approximate market value of the seized cough syrup is estimated to be around Rs 2.5 lakh.
