UP Man Carrying 3,600 Narcotic Capsules Arrested In Ambala

AMBALA : The anti-narcotics cell of Ambala police arrested an Uttar Pradesh-based man with 3,600 narcotic capsules on Thursday night.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mehandi alias Mehandi Hassan of Ajampur village in Amroha district. The accused was produced in the district court on Friday, which granted his two-day police remand for further investigation.

Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said Mehandi used to repair gas stoves on Kardhan Road in Maheshnagar area of Ambala Cantonment.

The SP said a case has been registered against Mehandi under Section 22-C and 61 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Maheshnagar police station on Thursday.

“During the remand, we will make efforts to identify the source of drugs procured by accused Mehandi”, said SP Ambala.
