Police Seizes 600 Bottles Codeine Cough Syrup Worth Rs 6 Lakh

Agartala : In a major crackdown against drugs, police of West Agartala Police Station and Battala Outpost seized a huge haul of Codeine Cough Syrup that has a market value of Rs 5 lakh approximately.

Detailing the operation, SDPO Deba Prasad Roy said, “We had specific information from our secret sources and later acting upon that information police team led by OCs of West Agartala Police Station and Battala Outpost chased a vehicle numbered TR01C4305 that was transporting the narcotic stuff”.

“Finally, we could trace the vehicle at IGM Chowmani area of the city. The driver, Mithu Das tried to elope from the spot but police managed to nab him and also recovered around 600 bottles of narcotic Codeine Cough Syrup”, he said.

The SDPO further added that a case has been registered against the accused and he will be produced before the court seeking police remand for further interrogation into the case.
