The idea of Modern Medtech Park in Delhi germinates

Delhi’s Industry Minister sounded amenable, signals west Delhi as site

New Delhi: Modern Medical Device Manufacturing Cluster in Delhi may become a reality in foreseeable future. The Surgical Manufacturers & Traders Association (SMTA) gets a very positive nod from Industries Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa in an event in Delhi. This will be godsend for manufacturing units in Lal Dora and unorganized slums.

Rajiv Nath, one of greatest champions of Make in India in Medical Device Domain, feels modern medtech park in Delhi is the need of the hour. Managing Director of Hindustan Syringes (HMD), a scintillating success story in syringe making, Mr Nath calling HMD a proud member of SMTA, is very optimistic about its prospect because of late he finds Union government very proactively promoting Make in India. Mr Nath, also forum coordinator of Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AiMeD) not long ago, was prolific in praise for the government for ensuring level playing field for domestic medical device manufactures vis a vis foreign manufacturers.

Rajiv Nath in talk with Medicare News said, “Existing Delhi based medical devices units making surgical instruments, stethoscopes, or rehabilitation orthopaedic aids etc need to relocate n expand n b compliant to evolving regulatory requirements under MDR n pollution n factory Act norms for which a modern medical device cluster supporting infrastructure is needed as existence in Lal Dora n unorganised slums is threatened.”

Mr Nath further said, “The Industry Minister was kindly very empathetic to the needs n offered promptly pragmatic solutions- hopefully the idea of a Medtech Park in west Delhi will germinate into a tangible development in very near future to enable MakeinIndia n MakeinDelhi to stem the tide of UnmakeinDelhi n entrepreneurs being pushed out of Delhi”
