CBI arrests two Narcotics Inspectors for 10L bribe

Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two inspectors of the Narcotics Bureau in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. Both the inspectors have been arrested in the case of demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh.

According to the information, CBI has arrested two inspectors of Central Narcotics Bureau (CBN), Lucknow and the owner of a private nursing home in a bribery case of Rs 10 lakh.

The CBI had on August 26 registered a case based on information received from reliable sources against two accused inspectors of the Lucknow-based Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), three private individuals, including the owner of a private nursing home, and unknown others.

It is alleged that two Inspectors of CBN, Lucknow and some unidentified persons demanded bribes from the owner of a private nursing home in Lucknow by threatening to implicate him in a false case of purchase of banned drug so that a case of supply of banned drug could be made.

During the investigation, a bribe of  Rs 10 lakh paid by the owner of the private nursing home to the accused CBN officials was recovered. Both the accused inspectors and the bribe-giving nursing home owner have been taken into custody and further action is underway.

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had taken action on Tuesday in bribery cases in different states of the country. The CBI had arrested the Assistant Commissioner (Food Safety) posted in Rajouri district of the Drugs and Food Control Organisation, under the Health Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

Apart from this, the CBI arrested a head constable of Delhi Police on Tuesday. The CBI had received information about the head constable taking bribes. In this sequence, the CBI caught the accused policeman taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
