Indore: Juni Indore Police lodged an FIR against a paediatrician allegedly for administering an expired vaccine to a two and-a-half-month-old baby and assaulting and threatening her parents when they raised an objection.
“The incident occurred late Monday night at a private hospital on Sapna-Sangeeta Road. The parents, who conceived the child after eight years of marriage, said they were deeply distressed and worried about potential side effects,” Juni Indore police station in-charge Anil Kumar Gupta said.
In his complaint, Rahul Thakur, a resident of Musakhedi mentioned that took his daughter along with his wife Roshni to the hospital for vaccination. After depositing the fee at the reception, the doctor proceeded with the vaccination, the police said.
“The complainant said that he and his wife happened to look at the vaccine wrapper pasted on the baby’s file that had expiry date as May 2025,” Gupta said, adding that when the couple objected to the use of an expired drug, the doctor allegedly snatched the file and attempted to tamper with the evidence.
The couple also alleged that the doctor along with his staff, pushed and assaulted them before offering to refund the vaccine cost and asking to drop the matter, the police said.
The parents filed an FIR at the Juni Indore police station around midnight. “A case has been registered under section 125, 125 (1), 115, 296, 351 against the doctor while further probe was on,” Gupta said.
The hospital management did not respond to the calls and messages for their comment on the entire incident.
