Pharma company partners with Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital for Free Cataract Surgeries
New Delhi: It is a happy coincidence with Nikhil K Masurkar, CEO of Entod pharma, that his birth day falls on Doctor’s Day i.e. July 1. His heart goes out for doctors and equating them with gods on earth comes handy. He made a statement that struck the chord and also made his b day worth it by announcing distribution of gift of eye sights among underprivileged.
Launching free cataract surgeries initiative ‘Visionay 44’ named after his age attained on Doctor’s Day, he disabused the belief that blindness is god’s wish. Bemoaning the fact that people go blind despite it being preventable, he said that there are ‘gods’ on earth who can prevent blindness. Majorly an eye drug pharma, Entod has partnered with Dr. Shroff Eye Hospital for 44 free cataract surgeries. Underlining the fact that Indian eye doctors are the best in the world, he said that heart and soul of Indian doctors cannot be matched anywhere else.
Demonstrating its commitment to accessible healthcare and community wellbeing, Matanand Welfare Foundation, the CSR arm of Entod Pharma, has partnered with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital to launch Visionary 44—a cataract awareness and blindness prevention initiative that will sponsor 44 free cataract surgeries for patients from underserved communities. The initiative commemorates the 44th birthday of Mr. Nikkhil K. Masurkar, CEO of Entod Pharma, transforming a personal milestone into a meaningful social impact campaign dedicated to restoring sight and promoting preventive eye care. Cataract remains the leading cause of blindness in India despite being one of the most treatable eye conditions through a safe and effective surgical procedure. Yet, millions of Indians—particularly senior citizens and those with limited access to quality healthcare—continue to suffer from avoidable vision loss due to delayed diagnosis, lack of awareness, and financial barriers to treatment.
Through Visionary 44, Matanand Welfare Foundation and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital aim to restore sight to patients from underserved communities, while encouraging regular eye examinations, early diagnosis, and timely cataract treatment. The initiative also seeks to educate communities about cataracts, dispel common misconceptions surrounding the condition, and reinforce the importance of seeking medical care before vision loss becomes severe. Beneficiaries for the sponsored surgeries will be identified through Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital’s extensive community outreach programmes, ensuring that quality eye care reaches individuals who need it most.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Nikkhil K. Masurkar, CEO, Entod Pharma, said: “Good vision is one of life’s greatest gifts, yet millions continue to lose it due to conditions that are entirely treatable. Through Visionary 44, we hope to restore sight to individuals in need while encouraging more people to prioritise regular eye examinations and timely treatment. At Entod Pharma, we believe our responsibility extends beyond developing innovative healthcare solutions—it also includes creating a meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve.”
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Umang Mathur, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, said: “Cataract continues to be the leading cause of avoidable blindness in India despite being completely treatable through a simple surgical procedure. One of the biggest challenges is bridging the gap between diagnosis and treatment, particularly among underserved communities. Through our partnership with Matanand Welfare Foundation, Visionary 44 will help restore sight while reinforcing the message that no one should lose vision to a condition that can be effectively treated through timely intervention. Regular eye examinations, especially after the age of 40, remain critical for early detection and successful treatment.”
Beyond sponsoring 44 free cataract surgeries, Visionary 44 reflects the shared commitment of Matanand Welfare Foundation and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital to expanding access to quality eye care and promoting preventive eye health. By combining charitable healthcare with public awareness, the initiative aims to reduce the burden of avoidable blindness, improve quality of life, and encourage more people to take proactive steps towards protecting their vision.
