The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly conducted search operations at the premises connected to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) president Montu Kumar Patel, in connection with various allegations including accepting bribes, according to published reports.
According to multiple news reports, the investigating agency has conducted raids in Patel’s bungalow in Zundal, Ahmedabad.
However, Pharmabiz could not independently verify the veracity of the reports as calls and messages to Patel for confirmation and comment did not elicit response.
Patel has been allegedly receiving bribes in connection with approval of pharmacy institutes and abused his powers both in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
The PCI has been criticised by the Supreme Court in May, this year, for “lack of application of mind and exercise of powers in an arbitrary manner,” in various matters which ended up in litigations between the institutes and the Council.
