DCA seizes overpriced Itraconazole capsules from medical shop in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: The teams of the Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TGSDCA) carried out raids and seized stocks of ITRAMEN-200 capsules (Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg) at a medical shop in Bandimet, Secunderabad.

Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg, sold under brand name ‘ITRAMEN-200 Capsules’, is under price control as per the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, which is fixed by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).

Itramen-200 Capsules (Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg), manufactured by Rivpra Formulations Pvt Ltd, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, for Menrik Biomerge Pvt Ltd, Manak Vihar, New Delhi, had an MRP of Rs 350 for 10 capsules.

However, the ceiling price fixed by the NPPA is Rs 221.2 for 10 capsules.

The MRP of this drug, including GST of 12 per cent, should not be more than Rs 247.7 for 10 capsules.

The firm, however, overpriced the product and charged an excess of Rs 102.23 for 10 capsules, which is a violation of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, the TSDCA officials said.
