‘Dr JL Meena: PHC to NMC’ is ‘Swasthyopanishad’: Ram Bahadur Rai

New Delhi– A distinguished gathering of intellectuals, healthcare professionals, and policymakers convened at the Constitution Club of India to celebrate the launch of “Dr. J.L. Meena: PHC to NMC,” a groundbreaking book chronicling the life and contributions of a visionary leader in the field of quality healthcare.

The event, presided over by Padma Bhushan awardee and eminent journalist Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, witnessed a lively discussion on the challenges and solutions facing the 21st-century healthcare system. Shri Rai, in his address, aptly christened the book “Swasthyapanishad,” drawing parallels to the profound wisdom enshrined in ancient Indian scriptures. He emphasized the critical need for more such publications that shed light on the invaluable contributions of individuals dedicated to improving public health.

The launch saw a confluence of esteemed voices, including Dr. Tejendra Sharma, an expatriate writer and chief guest, who underscored the importance of stringent government regulations and a robust political system in fostering a culture of quality healthcare. Dr. Alok Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary of the Association of Indian Universities, highlighted the book’s invaluable insights into the nuances of the healthcare ecosystem.

The event also featured insightful presentations from leading experts, including Prof. Rajkumar, Director of the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, who stressed the paramount importance of accessible and timely healthcare, emphasizing the pivotal role of preventive measures like diet, lifestyle, and exercise in disease management. Dr. Pankaj Johri, Director of NABL, lauded Dr. Meena’s pioneering work in quality healthcare, recognizing him as the “Quality Man of India.”

The author, Ashutosh Kumar Singh, shared his personal journey and the profound impact of Dr. Meena’s life and work on his own professional trajectory. He expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to bring Dr. Meena’s inspiring story to the forefront.

The event was graced by the presence of numerous dignitaries, including doctors, journalists, and policymakers. The launch commenced with a captivating performance of Saraswati Vandana by renowned classical singer Smt. Sumita Dutta, setting the tone for a thoughtful and insightful discourse on the future of healthcare in India. The stage was conducted by senior lyricist and presenter Manoj Singh ‘Bhawuk’.
