n the past decade the number of patients at regions premier hospital PGIMS ROHTAK has almost doubled but the hospital is far from meeting the challenge. Annual attendance at PGIMS ROHTAK O P D has jumped from 8.42lakh in 2002 to 15.5lakh in 2015. The number of indoor patients also increased significantly to 1.7lakh.also the PGIMS data shows 1lakh surgeries in 2015 and nearly seven thousand people died while being treated. All this doctors and other staffs were affecting treatment at the hospital. They were particularly concerned about the poor management of the rush and frequent scuffles with the patients attendants. Moreover the incompetence of PGIMS authorities does not even seem to mind private hospitals putting up hoardings inside the premises of the hospital, promoting better healthcare facilities.
The hospital has not purchased any big equipment for the last 1 year, most of the requirements are put on hold including the token system for managing patients, which could streamline the OPD rush and avoid long queues. In most of the premier medical institute in the country this system is in use, which costs only Rs. 50000 to install. This system exists at PGIMS dispensary but not at the OPD wing. The hospital management was reluctant to comment on the casual approach. Neither did they talk about the hoardings of the private hospitals put-up inside PGIMS campus.
