NDPS Medicines Seized From Dr Tambi’s House

Jaipur : A team of Drug Control and Central Bureau of Narcotics on Wednesday raided the house of well-known psychiatrist Dr Anil Tambi and allegedly seized banned and NDPS category medicines used in the treatment of patients facing chronic psychiatry issues. These medicines are banned from being sold over the counter.

The searches were carried out at Dr Tambi’s house late on Tuesday night. Dr Tambi lives in Malviya Nagar area of the city.

The searches were carried out under the direction of Commissioner (Food Safety and Drugs Control) Pukhraj Sen, IAS and Drug Controller. According to the preliminary investigation, the department got a tip-off about banned drugs being sold over the counter in Malviya Nagar following which a bogus customer was sent to the medical store.

It was found that the medicines carrying a maximum retail price of Rs 360 were being sold for Rs 500 at the medical store. Once the medical storekeeper handed over the medicines, the team raided the store and then searched the doctor’s house in the vicinity. It is alleged that banned psychotropic medicines were found at the doctor’s house in large quantities.

They found a large number of NDPS category medicines. Apart from this action, team also raided the Rajasthan Medical Provision Store at Chandpole & medicines seized.
