Pharmacists Cheer Arrest Of Corrupt Drug Inspector

Ahmedabad: In a rare turn of events, the arrest of a corrupt drug inspector spurred pharmacists to celebrate it by bursting firecrackers and cutting a cake at the Food and Drug department in Vastrapur.

According to a member of the Gujarat Pharmacists Association, drug inspector Darshana Modi was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a woman pharmacist.

Due to some corrupt officials in the food and drug department in the state, the entire system is getting tarnished. The Gujarat Pharmacists Association said there was a feeling of joy among many pharmacists when Darshana Modi was caught taking bribes. Along with that, the pharmacists hope that the health department will investigate the corrupt drug inspectors.

Rajinikanth Bharatiya, leader of the association, said women pharmacists raised slogans demanding an end to corrupt food and drug inspectors.

Bharatiya claimed that if a proper investigation is carried out, big names will emerge from the department who brazenly indulge in corruption.
