Strict No-needle policy declares by the Athletics Federation of India

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) decided to impose a strict ‘No-Needle’ policy at all the national camps and training centers in the country. Recently two of their athletes were sent back home on charges of possession of needles during the recent Commonwealth Games.

The AFI becomes the one of the first among National Sports Federations (NSFs) to announce a ‘No-Needle’ policy, has drawn up a protocol and circulated to all the athletes at national camps and training centers across the country.

Adille Sumariwalla, AFI President stated that the ‘No-Needle’ policy has come into effect immediately.

To implement this policy effectively, the AFI formed a three-member committee of coaches, which has been empowered to search the rooms of the athletes. AFI ensures that this policy should be publicizing at its best among athletes so that nobody is in possession of a needle or any forbidden substance. AFI will take strict action will be taken against those who are found violating this policy. Disciplinary Committee of the AFI will handle all the cases of needle possession.
