Tripura: 6 Drugs Peddlers Arrested At Agartala Railway Station

Agartala: Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) in a joint operation apprehended 6 drug peddlers from the Agartala Railway Station today.

The operation began after inputs suggested that a consignment of Phensedyle (banned cough syrup) is being smuggled in the Rani Kamalapati Express. Soon the RPF and GRP personnel swung into action and carried out thorough search of the passengers on board.

During the operation the 6 drug peddlers were arrested and a total of 970 Codeine Cough Syrup bottles were found in their possession. Except one, who is a resident of Gowala Basti in Agartala, the other 5 individuals are all residents of Bihar.

Inspector Dipak Datta, Officer in charge of RPF in Agartala rail station said, “We received the information of phensedyle being transported in the Rani Kamalapati Express, prior to 1 hour of the operation. The consignment was brought from West Bengal and Bihar.”
