Two Arrested Including Medical Operator, Seized 150 Bottle Cough Syrup

Surajpur : Basdei police of Surajpur district has taken action on the supply chain of intoxicating cough syrup. Police have arrested 2 accused including a medical store operator.

According to information, on December 08, the Chowki Basdei police, on the information of the informer, laid siege near the railway station Unchdih and arrested the accused Mangal Rajwade, age 28, resident of village Pasla, police station Surajpur, from whose possession Onrex cough syrup 150 Bottles, whose market value is about 1 lakh 12 thousand rupees were seized and action was taken under the NDPS Act.

On interrogation, the accused said that he had taken intoxicating cough syrup from Baiju Thakur of Sonbhadra district, the intoxicating cough syrup is sold by Rakesh Kumar, owner of Maa Ambe Medical Store, Babhni.

On the basis of this disclosure the medical store operator accused Rakesh Kumar father Sudarshan Prasad age 24 years resident of Jurra, police station Myorpur, District Sonbhadra, Hall Mukam Babhni, district Sonbhadra Uttar Pradesh and his partner Baijnath Sharma alias Baiju Thakur father Late, by raiding Babhni last day. Ramkishore Sharma aged 22 years resident of Babhni district Sonbhadra Uttar Pradesh was arrested.

On enquiry, the medical store operator accused Rakesh told that Baiju used to get the cough syrup sold through Thakur for fear of being caught after ordering cough syrup in the store. Both were arrested by taking action under sections 21(c), 27(a), 29 of the NDPS Act after the accused were found to be funding illegal business of banned cough syrup, abetment and criminal conspiracy.

Outpost in-charge Brijesh Yadav, ASI Laxmi Prasad Gupta, head constable Anand Singh, constable Amit Singh, Abhay Tiwari and Devdutt Dubey participated in this operation.
