Ferozepur: As part of the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign launched by the Punjab Government to eradicate drugs from the state, the Health Department team achieved a significant breakthrough by conducting a raid at a medical store in village Gatti Rajo Ke, Ferozepur. The raid was carried out under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur.

Sharing details, Sonia Gupta, Drug Control Officer, said that they received information regarding the illegal storage of prohibited drugs at M/S Jassi Medical Store. Acting on the tip-off, the team conducted a raid and recovered 580 capsules and 500 tablets of intoxicating drugs worth Rs 30,300. Following the seizure, the medical store was sealed on the spot and legal action was initiated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Sonia Gupta stated that the Punjab Government has declared an all-out war against drugs, with the primary aim of making the state drug-free. She urged all medical stores to maintain proper records of medicines, ensure every sale is made against a valid prescription with bills, and strictly prohibit the storage or sale of any drug used for addiction.

She warned that any medical store found involved in illegal drug trade would face strict legal action without any leniency.
