3 children die of kidney failure in Chhindwara within 15 days, Central govt team to investigate

Chhindwara: In Chhindwara, three children died due to kidney failure in the past 15 days. 9 are undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Given the seriousness of the case, the district administration has called in an ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) team for investigation.

The incident is from the Parasia block. According to family members, the children initially complained of mild fever and cold.

During routine treatment at private hospitals, problems of reduced urine output and kidney infection suddenly emerged.

As their condition deteriorated, the children were referred to Nagpur, where 5-year-8-month-old Adnan Khan, 4-year-old Hitansh Soni, and 2-year-old Shreya Yadav died.

Collector Shailendra Singh said that sudden deaths of children from kidney infection is concerning and  Strict action if hospital negligence is found.

The ICMR team will come from Delhi to conduct research. After confirming the causes, the role of private hospitals will also be investigated. Strict action will be taken if negligence is found.

Mother said – Adnan had never been sick before Adnan passed away on September 11 while Hitansh Soni died on September 14 during treatment at Nagpur hospital. Meanwhile, Shreya died on September 16.

Adnan’s mother Afreen Parveen said – My son had never even had a fever before this.

This time when he got a mild fever, we took him to the doctor. He had recovered after taking medicine. A few days later he got a fever again and his urine stopped. We took him to Nagpur but couldn’t save him.

Two-member team from Bhopal reached Parasia, samples taken

A two-member team from the Health Department of Bhopal has also reached Parasia. The team members will stay in the area for three days to conduct investigations.

On Monday, officials visited Parasia, Newton Chikli and other villages. They gathered information by talking to the relatives of the deceased. In the late evening, Collector Shailendra Singh held a meeting with the team.

Doctor said – Infection spread due to weather change Dr. Praveen Soni, who runs a hospital in Parasia, said – The rainy season is ending while winter is beginning. This time is sensitive for infections. During this time, viral fever and cold are common in children, but sudden kidney infection is a serious matter.

He said that samples have been sent to the lab and the exact cause will be known only after the report comes.

Meanwhile, Block Medical Officer Ankit Sahlam said – Screening of children up to 5 years is being done. The survey team is going door-to-door to collect samples.
