COVID Vaccination begins in Delhi Hospitals

New Delhi: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital today carried successful vaccination of 100 healthcare workers including Doctors, Nurses and Paramedical Staff.

Some of the prominent doctors who took Covishield vaccine were Dr. Shyam Aggarwal (Chairperson, Department of Oncology), Dr. Chand Wattal (Chairperson, Department of Microbiology), Dr. Sumir Dubey (Sr. Cardiac Surgeon), Dr. Gaurav Majumdar (Senior Embryologist, Department of IVF), Dr. Amita Chaturvedi and many others healthcare workers.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Honorable Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare* today visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to inspect Covishield vaccination programme at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “India has launched today the biggest vaccination programme. We should be proud of India’s vaccination programme and I assure the people of the efficacy of the vaccination. I have visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital many times during the peak of Covid crisis. That is the reason I am visiting this hospital today as Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been in the forefront during the fight with Covid. People should not play politics in this important vaccination programme”.

According to Dr. D.S. Rana, Chairman (Board of Management), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital,“We are happy to note that today being the first day, everything went of smoothly and no adverse reaction of Covishield was observed. Altogether, today 100 healthcare workers were given Covishield vaccination. These healthcare workers will now be given the second dose after 28 days”.

Subsequently as per the directions of the Government we will increase the numbers and categories of people to be vaccinated for Covishield vaccination.

Manipal Hospital Dwarka

Health professionals including doctors, who were vaccinated for COVID at HCMCT Manipal Hospitals, Dwarka today, said that they are upbeat as final assault on the Coronavirus has began and this will create a strong safeguard against the infectious disease.  Nearly 100 doctors and health professionals were given Covid vaccine at HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka in the national capital as the world’s largest vaccination campaign kicked off today. Nearly 60 health professionals including senior doctors of the hospital were involved to make the vaccination process successful and boost confidence among the team and people at large.

Hundred frontline warriors were register for vaccination for day one, they were given token number and then were allowed to enter the waiting room. Only five people are allowed together in the waiting area where they are verified and made aware of how their body might react to vaccination. After the briefing, they were given vaccination. They were sent to the observation centre and were kept under observation for 30 minutes. At this stage, the government officials stepped in to ask for any uneasiness they might be feeling, doctors were alert and ready to deal with any adverse event.

Mr. Raman Bhaskar, Director- Hospital, HCMCT Manipal Hospitals said, As India gears up a mammoth task of Vaccine administration to people in the first phase, a successful Vaccination campaign was carried out today. Our hospital was fully prepared for the Corona vaccination campaign. We followed every guideline issued by the Ministry of Health for the vaccination process. ”

South West Delhi, District Magistrate (DM), Mr Naveen Agarwal also visited and inspected the arrangements as per the government said procedures.
