Chandigarh: Anti Narcotics Cell has arrested a person in Panchkula in a major action against illegal drug trade. Accused Surendra Kumar, a resident of Shiv Nagar, Kalka, was apprehended with a huge quantity of narcotic pills and capsules. Police had received secret information that Surendra Kumar has been selling illegal drugs for a long time.
Based on the information, the Anti Narcotics team laid a siege in Kanguwal Road, Kalka and apprehended Surendra Kumar coming on an Activa. During the search, 4200 Alprazolam Tablets, 2520 Tramadol Capsules, 5520 Lomotil Tablets and Rs 7150 cash were recovered from him. When he was asked to produce the license or permit for keeping these medicines, he could not produce any valid document.
The police registered a case against the accused under section 22(c) of the NDPS Act at Kalka police station and arrested him. The accused was produced in the court and taken on three-day police remand so that further interrogation can be done and other people involved in this illegal business can also be traced.
