RK Damani’s Derive Investments buys 26.5 lakh shares of Fortis Healthcare

NEW DELHI: RK Damani’s Derive Investments on Monday bought 26.5 lakh shares of Fortis Healthcare.

The firm bought 26,58,843 shares of Fortis Healthcare at Rs 144.50 apiece in a bulk deal, NSE data showed.

Shares of Fortis Healthcare on Monday gained over 7 per cent to settle at Rs 147.60 apiece on NSE.

Earlier this month, Delhi High Court allowed Daiichi Sankyo to enforce an international arbitration award so that it could recover Rs 3,500 crore from Fortis Healthcare’s promoters Malvinder Singh and Shivinder Singh, marking a victory for the Japanese company. Days after the verdict, Singh brothers quit the Fortis board.

In the latest development, the government has ordered a Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) probe against Fortis Healthcare and Religare Enterprises, which are at the centre of a controversy involving accusations of misconduct against their promoters Malvinder and Shivinder Singh, said a TNN report.

However, in a clarification submitted to BSE on Monday, the company said it had not received any such communication from government authority.
