Two Hospitals In Gujarat Suspended Over Misuse Of PM-JAY Scheme

Ahmedabad:  Following the Khyati hospital controversy, more cases of misuse of the PM-JAY scheme have come to light in Gujarat. Two more hospitals of the state were suspended over this and a total fine of Rs 3.18 crore has been imposed on them.

The Health Department has started an investigation into hospitals under the PM-JAY scheme. During the investigation, irregularities were found at Krishna Surgical Hospital and Swastik Multi-Specialty Hospital in Rajkot. Additionally, several irregularities were found at Jayaben Modi Hospital in Bharuch and Bankers Super Specialty Hospital in Vadodara.

When the Swastik Multi-Specialty Hospital in Rajkot was investigated, it was revealed that 196 sonography reports had been tampered. As a result, the hospital was suspended from the scheme, and a fine of Rs 2.94 crore was imposed.

Krishna Surgical Hospital in Rajkot was suspended for not having the required building permission and staff. Due to these deficiencies, the hospital was suspended.

In Bharuch, Jayaben Modi Hospital was found to have falsified tumor board certificates by using incorrect signatures and seals, which were then uploaded into the software. As a result, the hospital management has been asked to repay Rs 33,44,031.

At Bankers Super Specialty Hospital in Vadodara, violations of PM-JAY scheme guidelines in oncology surgery were found. A recovery of Rs 57,51,689 will be made from the hospital.

The State Anti-Fraud Unit has intensified its investigations to stop irregularities in private hospitals across Gujarat. Given the ongoing investigations, there is a possibility of further scandals being exposed in the coming days.
