Nishant as Health Minister, Bihar is all set to witness a New Dawn of Healthcare

Spiritualism n Compassion being core of his Nature, Poor Patients may Hope for Best

New Delhi: ‘Nishant’ literally meaning daybreak, Bihar may well hope to see a new Dawn of Healthcare- Amrit Kaal of Healthcare so to speak with Nishant Kumar, son of former CM Nitish Kumar, becoming Health Minister. You may call him ‘Saint for Health’ if you will, end syllable of his name sounding like one. Since Nishant has to carry on a legacy of his father, Sushashan in healthcare services is a logical hope pinned on him. Health being a high voltage and critical portfolio, Nishant will have to hit the ground running and begin in right earnest.

As apple does not fall far from the tree, health ministry in Nishant has got all the attributes of his iconic father rolled into one. Nishant replicating his illustrious father in commitment and sincerity of purpose, he as health Minister may prove manna from heaven for hapless patients. Since he will be seen in the image of his father, they say, Nishant will pull out all stops to transform state’s healthcare ecosystem which is not very inspiring as yet as stranded patients in the AIIMS bears witness.

Talking to Medicare News, Dr Rajvardhan Azad, former head of RP Centre (AIIMS Delhi) and currently member of state’s Legislative Council, sounded very optimistic about transformation of health services under Nishant’s leadership. He sounded certain that Nishant Kumar will uplift the standard of healthcare services in Bihar as the task calls for total commitment and sincerity which he imbibes. Dr Azad, himself son of former CM of the state, late Sri Bhagwat Jha Azad said, ‘A word must be said about Nitish ji’s son, Nishant. Nishant is a soul of remarkable purity, seemingly untouched by the common aberrations of modern society, deeply spiritual and platonic in his outlook, he shares his father’s honesty and a vigorous commitment to the people of Bihar.’

As software engineer from BIT Mesra, he must be abreast of unfolding scenario of increasingly AI-enabled healthcare in the world. He might focus on unveiling a new healthcare ecosystem through effective implementation of digital health and tele- medicine to make quality treatment accessible and affordable for all and sundry, especially poor and disadvantaged section of state. As medical technology is becoming paramount in the delivery of quality healthcare, he may also go for acquiring best in class medtechs for the best outcome.

They say health portfolio suits his nature as commitment for the service of people in need is his middle name. For a viksit health in keeping with ambitious goal of Viksit Bihar in 2047, he is considered the right fit for the portfolio and best bet for turning around the still sorry state of affairs in healthcare in the state. After being sworn in as health minister Nishant said that he would prioritize improving healthcare services, administration in health department and medical education in Bihar. Spiritually inclined, Nishant may also become an apostle for preventive health stressing on life style and integrative medicine which of late has gained quite currency in the world. Tobacco has been the bane for Bihar and cause of most mouth and neck cancer. He is also expected to do something for eradicating this curse on Bihar.

Summing up, Nishant cannot afford to be a run of the mill health minister. It is a challenging responsibility bestowed upon him. But as he is just as hard working and committed as his father, he raises hope that he will measure up to the task.
