Former Asst. Drugs Controller Gets 2-Yr RI in DA Case

Bhubaneswar:  The court found Mallick guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income. It sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000.

Following the verdict, Odisha Vigilance confirmed that it would approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for the stoppage of Mallick’s pension. Officials emphasized that the conviction reinforces their commitment to holding public servants accountable.

Earlier, Odisha Vigilance had filed a detailed charge sheet after uncovering significant financial irregularities during its investigation. The court’s ruling now adds momentum to the state’s broader anti-corruption drive.

This judgment marks a crucial milestone in Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption and promote transparency within the public sector.
