Govt Job: For Pharma, Life Sciences professionals at BIRAC | Salary upto Rs. 90,000 pm

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs.

As a Government of India enterprise, BIRAC endeavors to bring professionalism, transparency and efficiency into its functioning while providing support to catalyse the transformation of the emerging Indian bio-economy.

Post : Associate Consultant [IP]

Duration : The engagement is contractual initially for a period of One Year.

Consolidated Fee : The consolidated fee shall be fixed between Rs.60,000 to Rs.90,000/- per month depending on the experience and qualifications.

Job Description : The Consultant [IP] shall work closely with the IP & TM division of BIRAC for due-diligence, patentability search, support in coordinating with the inventors and the empanelled IP firms related to IPR filing in India and abroad.

Eligibility :
1.MSc / M.Tech in life sciences/ Biotechnology / Pharma / Agri / Plant sciences. 2. Registered Indian Patent Agent

Desirable qualifications :
PhD in life sciences/ Bio Technology/ Pharma/ Agri / Plant sciences.
Degree in Law or Diploma/Degree in Intellectual Property from a recognized and reputed institute

Experience : Between 03 to 10 years
Minimum 03 years of experience in providing IP services to Central/State Government or Autonomous Institutions or Public Sector Undertakings

Maximum Age : 45 Years as on 24/03/2022

Key Responsibilities :
• Conduct IP searches and Analysis – patentability/ FTO/ Patent Landscape by using IP search tools/databases and scientific information resources, including sequence and chemical structure searching

• Working knowledge of Patent searches, analysis & technology mapping.

• Carry out aspects of IP Management including examination and drafting.

• Render services for implementation of BIRAC’s PATH (Patenting & Technology Transfer for Harnessing Innovations) Scheme.

• Assist in referred matters related to protection of plant varieties, written representations before the IPO, Appellate Board in India, miscellaneous actions under the relevant act and any other proceeding in India.

• Provide opinion / advice on any other matters related to IP.

• Undertake any other tasks in furtherance to the fulfilment of her responsibilities.

• Protect the secrecy of and avoid disclosure and unauthorized use of the Confidential Information in any forum which includes formal and informal discussion/lectures/publications etc.
