3-month relief: Final call for 10,000 pharmacists to renew registration

At least 70,000 pharmacists are registered in Haryana; of these, about 10,000 — whose registrations expired on December 31, 2020, — have not yet renewed

The Haryana State Pharmacy Council has announced a three-month grace period for registration renewal, offering significant relief to the state’s pharmacists. This provision applies to all pharmacists whose registrations expired in the year 2020 or earlier.

Council Chairman BB Singal stated that approximately 70,000 pharmacists are registered in the state; of these, about 10,000 — whose registrations expired on December 31, 2020, — have not yet renewed.

This decision was taken during a meeting of the Council’s Executive Committee.

He further explained that it is mandatory for all such pharmacists to complete their renewal process by June 30. Failure to submit an application within the stipulated deadline will result in the removal of the concerned pharmacist’s name from the Pharmacist Register.

According to the Council, effective July 1, a late fee of Rs 500 per year will be levied on those who delay their renewal; this fee will be calculated from the date the registration originally expired. Additionally, action will be taken in accordance with the new regulations.

BB Singal further informed that the Executive Committee also decided that if a pharmacist fails to apply for renewal within five years of their registration’s expiration, their name will be permanently struck off the register in the future. This decision will remain in force going forward.

Once a name has been removed from the register, the pharmacist applying for its restoration must provide a valid explanation for their failure to renew the registration earlier. Subsequently, the application—along with all supporting facts—will be placed before the Council’s Executive Committee; the registration will be reinstated only if the Committee deems the provided facts to be satisfactory.

Singal has appealed to all pharmacists to complete their registration renewal within the prescribed timeframe to avoid any potential inconvenience.
