Meerut Alert: ‘Slow Poison’ Lurking in Sex Power Boosters – 72% of Samples Tainted with Steroids, Sparking Youth Health Crisis

Meerut In a chilling exposé on the dark underbelly of the wellness industry, investigations in Uttar Pradesh have uncovered that so-called herbal and ayurvedic stamina enhancers—aggressively marketed as miracle cures for sex power and vitality—are nothing short of slow poisons. Over 72% of tested samples from Meerut’s sex clinics and stores contain synthetic steroids, banned hormones, and toxic heavy metals, trapping hundreds of young users, especially adolescents aged 16-28, in a vicious cycle of addiction and organ failure. Prompted by Health Ministry directives, the Drugs Control Department and Food Safety Authority’s raids on local units have exposed a rampant adulteration racket, with experts warning of a ticking time bomb for public health.
The probe, spanning the past year, targeted outlets peddling these “natural” boosters without prescriptions, revealing a grim reality: products promising illusory highs are silently ravaging livers, kidneys, hearts, and minds. As cases surge in hospitals, authorities are racing to clamp down, but the addiction’s grip on unmarried youth—75% men and 25% women—remains alarmingly tight.

Shocking Findings from Lab Tests

Teams from the Drugs Control Department collected samples from sex power clinics and pharmacies across Meerut and nearby districts, sending them for rigorous analysis. The results are damning: 72% harbored steroids and artificial hormones like methyl testosterone and dexamethasone—banned substances that require medical oversight. An additional 20% tested positive for these illicit additives, while 5% were laced with excessive salt for deceptive “potency.” Even worse, traces of heavy metals such as lead and mercury were detected in several batches, pointing to shoddy, unregulated manufacturing in local units run by unqualified “quacks” (झोलाछाप practitioners).
These items, often sold with false guarantees of enhanced performance, provide only fleeting benefits before unleashing havoc. Piyush Sharma, Drug Inspector in Meerut, revealed to reporters: “Many samples failed lab tests. We also scrutinize external samples. Stamina-enhancing products are riddled with steroid content.” No major seizures were reported during the collections, but the findings have flagged dozens of outlets for potential license revocations, with ongoing probes into suppliers.

A Cascade of Health Nightmares

The toll on users is devastating, transforming a quest for confidence into a path of irreversible damage. Medical experts at Meerut’s Medical College describe a flood of patients—many teens—arriving in distress after months of covert use. Initial symptoms mimic minor woes: stomach pain, vomiting, a bitter mouth taste, irritability, insomnia, facial flushing, and unexplained swelling from fluid retention.
But the real horror unfolds deeper: sudden weight fluctuations give way to jaundice (yellowing eyes and skin), signaling liver assault that escalates to swelling, chronic fatigue, internal bleeding, cirrhosis, or even cancer. Kidneys falter next, with reduced urine output and ankle edema potentially demanding lifelong dialysis. Ironically, these “power” pills sabotage their own promise, halting natural testosterone production and plunging users into infertility and diminished libido.
Heart risks loom largest: erratic heartbeats, skyrocketing blood pressure, breathlessness, and fainting spells culminate in heart attacks, especially among the young. Neurologically, victims grapple with mood swings, depression, anxiety, memory lapses, and full-blown mental instability. Dr. Arvind Kumar, Professor of Medicine at the college, shared a stark case: “Many patients rush in with sudden chest pain. Tests show they’ve been on steroid-laced power meds for months. These disrupt heart rhythms and pressure—sometimes triggering a direct heart attack.”
Psychiatrist Dr. Ravi Rana echoed the mental anguish: “These drugs hijack the brain too. Users turn irritable, rage-filled, restless, and depressed. What starts as addiction morphs into chronic mental illness.” With hundreds affected and adolescent cases spiking, doctors link the surge to peer pressure and unchecked online hype, urging immediate awareness campaigns.

Regulatory Heat and Calls for Action

This scandal ties into Uttar Pradesh’s broader war on adulterated drugs, mirroring recent FSDA crackdowns on narcotic cough syrups in Lucknow and Bulandshahr. While no direct mafia links surfaced here, the local manufacturing hubs echo the same lax oversight plaguing the state. Officials vow stricter enforcement, including random audits and public advisories, but critics decry the lack of arrests so far.
As Meerut’s youth teeter on the edge, the message is unequivocal: that “herbal high” could be your last. Health authorities implore consulting certified doctors over dubious clinics, and testing any suspicious supplement. In a city where ambition meets vulnerability, this slow poison serves as a brutal reminder—vitality can’t be bought at the cost of life itself.
