New Delhi: According to the police, a review meeting of the 9thState Level Committee of NCORD was held on 26th November 2024 at 11:00 AM at Raj Niwas, Delhi, under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble LG, Delhi. Concluding the meeting, the Hon’ble LG emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to realize the vision of a “Drug-Free Delhi” within three years and directed the launch of a “One-Month Comprehensive Campaign as a Pilot Project”. This initiative is envisioned as a significant step towards freeing Delhi from drug-related issues.
As directed by Hon’ble LG, Delhi, while pursuing the aim of making Delhi drug free, the ANTF, Crime Branch has been developing intelligence about the drug traffickers, resultantly, two persons have been arrested namely Laxman and Pankaj from Sonia Vihar, Delhi area from whom 27 Kg Alprazolam Tablets have been recovered. A case, vide FIR No. 243/2024 dt. 29.11.2024, u/s 22(c)/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Crime Branch, Delhi in this regard.
On 28.11.2024, a tip off was received by HC Deepak Parewa and ASI Naresh Kumar posted with ANTF, Crime Branch regarding supply of illegal drugs/psychotropic substance in the area of Sonia Vihar, Delhi. Acting upon the information a team comprising SIs Arjun Singh & Rajendra Kumar, ASIs Naresh Kumar & Satbir Singh, HCs Deepak Parewa, Vikki, Umesh Kumar & Naveet was constituted led by Inspector Praveen Rathi and supervised by ACsP, ANTF, Crime Branch, Sh. Anil Sharma, and Sh. Raj kumar.
The team laid a trap near 30 Feet Road, Pushpanjali Estate, Sonia Vihar, Delhi area and intercepted two motorcycles on each of which a big box was being carried away and two persons were apprehended, namely,(1) Laxman R/o west Karawal Nagar, Delhi, age-32 years who was riding the motorcycle, make – Bajaj Platina, bearing registration number –
DL7SBE0495 and(2) Pankaj R/o Sant Nagar, DLF, Loni, UP, age-18 years, who was pillion riding the motorcycle, make- Bajaj, bearing registration number, holding the box, the rider of the motorcycle is on run. The boxes were checked in which about27 kilograms of Alprazolam tablets, equivalent to about 2 lakh tablets were found. A case, vide FIR No. 243/2024 dt. 29.11.2024, u/s 22(c)/25/29 NDPS Act was registered at PS Crime Branch, Delhi in this regard.
During further investigation and on disclosure by the accused additional recovery of 2.4 kilograms of Alprazolam tablets from the godown of absconding accused located in Loni, Uttar Pradesh, was made out.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED : –
(1) Laxman R/o west Karawal Nagar, Delhi, age-32 – He was born in a lower middle-class family. He used to work in a medical shop and gained good knowledge of medicines. He used to supply the Alprazolam tablets in different parts of Delhi on commission bases for each delivery.
(2) Pankaj R/o Sant Nagar, DLF, Loni, UP, age-18 years – He belongs to a middle-class family, he studied up to 5thclass. He used to work with one Ankit Shukla and used to supply the Alprazolam tablets in different parts in Delhi on commission basis for each delivery.
Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding accused.
SEIZURES:-
• Initial Recovery: Over 27 kilograms Alprazolam tablets, equivalent to more than 2 lakh tablets.
• Additional Recovery: 2.4 kilograms of Alprazolam tablets from the premises of AnkitShukla’s medical shop in Loni.
The total recovery reflects the magnitude of the cartel’s operations, particularly given that the commercial quantity for Alprazolam under the NDPS Act is only 100 grams.
